ACHC has taken additional steps to address health care market needs of specialization and differentiation by offering a series of distinctions to complement ACHC Accreditation.
Distinction in Telehealth
This distinction recognizes organizations offering telehealth services to patients.
• Supports safe, quality, remote care for patients
• Standards for the distinction are based on telehealth clinical guidelines developed by the American Telemedicine Association
• Complies with the highest national standards for optimum patient care, privacy, and safety

Distinction in Nutrition Support
This additional recognition is a way for infusion providers to demonstrate their expertise in the delivery of parenteral and enteral nutrition products.
• Focus on nutrition-specific pharmacy operations and provision of care
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Infusion Pharmacy Accreditation
Infusion Pharmacy
Distinction in Hazardous Drug Handling
This distinction recognizes organizations demonstrating a commitment to meet criteria set forth in USP Chapter < 800 > Hazardous Drugs - Handling in Healthcare Settings.
• Standards aimed at protecting patients, personnel, and the environment
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC or PCAB Pharmacy Accreditation
Pharmacy
Distinction in Palliative Care
This distinction recognizes agencies providing community-based palliative care.
• Standards based on the National Consensus Project’s Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care
• Developed in coordination with a committee of industry leaders facilitated by Judi Lund Person, NHPCO’s Vice President of Regulatory and Compliance
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Provides a framework for providers looking to implement palliative care services
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Home Health, Hospice, or Private Duty Accreditation

Distinction in Infectious Disease Specific to HIV
This distinction recognizes organizations providing Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) medications.
• Developed in partnership with AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to elevate the practice of HIV treatment
• Standards aimed at enhancing collaboration between physician, pharmacist, and patient; increasing safety measures for staff and patients; and containing cost
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation
Distinction in Oncology
This distinction recognizes organizations providing oncology medications.
• Developed in partnership with Community Oncology Pharmacy Association (COPA) to elevate the practice of cancer treatment
• Standards aimed at enhancing collaboration between physician, pharmacist, and patient; increasing safety measures for staff and patients; and containing cost
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation
Specialty Pharmacy
Distinction in Behavioral Health
This distinction recognizes behavioral health interventions that happen in home care environments.
• Standards incorporate research-based best practices
• Developed by nationally recognized industry experts and providers
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Recognizes quality care provided though integrating behavioral health interventions into home care services for patients with mental illness, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental disabilities
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Home Health Accreditation
Home Health
Distinction in Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs
This distinction recognizes organizations that provide access to orphan status drugs that treat rare diseases.
• Standards pertaining to the unique needs of managing orphan status drugs, including:
• One-day comprehensive, on-site evaluation
• Must be achieved in combination with ACHC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation
